The Commissioner for Information in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Charles Udoh has said that the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel directed his commissioners and Special Advisers to personally drive themselves to the emergency state executive council meeting as a way of observing social distancing.
The governor had directed members of his exco to drive themselves to the emergency state exco meeting held today at Government House, Uyo. The governor told his commissioners not to come to Hilltop Mansion with their drivers, aides, and security back up. This, according to the government spokesman was for the state exco members to maintain social distance in a bid to curb the spread of the novel Covid-19.
Meanwhile, ahead of the forthcoming Junior and Senior Secondary Examinations, the Akwa Ibom State Government has approved academic intervention Radio programme for JSS 3 and SSS 3 students as a platform to receive lectures to bridge the gap created by the school closure over the COVID-19 pandemic.
The programme which is called “School on Radio” will be broadcast on the Radio Service of Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, AKBC 90.5FM, Uyo and would run for 42 weeks, throughout the duration of school closure due to Coronavirus.
This is one of the decisions taken today at the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Udom Emmanuel at the Government House, Uyo.
Briefing Government House Correspondent at the end of the meeting, the Commissioner of Information, Mr Charles Udoh said there will be adequate publicity on the programme to help raise public awareness to enable students tune in to Radio Akwa Ibom 90.5FM, Uyo for lessons.
Another decision of the State Executive Council was the inauguration of the State Economic Recovery Committee to stimulate the economy after the COVID-19 lockdown.
