The need for the mobilization of people in Eket federal constituency who are of voting age to take advantage of INEC extended schedule for voters registration was stressed in Eket, Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday, July 5 by the Eket federal constituency candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rt. Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
Eyiboh, former House of Representatives spokesperson, gave the charge during the inauguration of D’ Preferred committees in his Eket campaign office.
He called on all members of the committee to embark on voters sensitization, assuring that with the series of innovations and technologies introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), loopholes for manipulation of votes and figures has been eliminated, noting that the only way to ensure large turnout of voters on the election day is for members of the committee and all members of APC in the area to mobilize and encourage people to go out and register.
The former lawmaker lauded members of the committee for their commitment and steadfastness during the intra-party primaries and pledged to reward them through effective representation in the National Assembly, stressing that the committee would act as a political co-operative and described himself as a seed that is expected to germinate and grow from February 2023 in the National Assembly.
Eyiboh, during the occasion, rolled out numbers of his achievements during his tenure in the House of Representatives to include a 100% privately funded constituency projects 2007-2011 completed and commissioned boreholes with overhead water tanks, generator houses and generators at Ikot Akpan Mkpe, Ndon Eyo, Ukpana and Ikot Akpatek in Onna LGA, Effoi, Atabong bridgehead, Ikot Udoma, Ikot Ossoh in Eket LGA and Ekpene Obo, Odoro Nkit in Esit Eket LGA.
Eyiboh, said through his representation, volunteers from Canada, US, Botswana and South Africa through Teachers Without Borders International engaged in training the Trainers Scheme on mind power development and character education of teachers from the federal constituency embarked on training at NYSC permanent camp in Keffi, Nassarawa State, program he funded 100%. He listed 10 of his constituents- Aniekan Enefiok Okpo, Ekerette Oduwak, Mfonobong Enefiok Umo, Aniefiok Iniobong Udoh, Nelson Sunday Ekanem, Grace Edinyang, John James Akpan, Johnny Okon Essien, Victoria Udia Assam and Jude Essien Offiong as beneficiaries.
On education, Eyiboh said he awarded scholarship to one secondary school student from SS1, each in the 43 wards in the 4 local government areas in Eket federal constituency with fees, mattresses, lockers, boarding and books paid for by him, and mentioned Imaobong Okpodighe of Nigerian Law School, Akaninyene Umoh Msc(Development Economics)Uniuyo, Joseph Oboh LLM(Telecom Law) University of Stratelyde, Uk and Victor Dick M.Eng (Project Mgt.) University of Stratelyde,Uk as beneficiaries of his tertiary scholarship.
The ex legislator also constructed and furnished a modern library at Upenekang in Ibeno LGA, constructed 6 classroom block with 2 offices at Esit Urua in Eket LGA, provided books/office furnitures for schools in Odio, Esit Urua and Atabong communities, constructed a skill acquisition at Edor, Esit Eket LGA and computer centre at Akpautong, Esit Eket LGA.
On sport development, he trained and graduated coach Ernest Danison from Onna, coach Usen Ebuk from Eket and coach Effiong Ibok from Ibeno as football coaches at Nigeria Institute of Sports, Lagos with boarding, tuition, books, equipments and allowances fully paid by him. He also groomed and sponsored into professional football cadre Matthew Etim from Ibeno, Godwin Mensah from Eket and Nsisong Udokop from Esit Eket.
Hon.Eseme Eyiboh, donated a computer,printer and electricity generator each to Afigh Iwaad Ekid and Mbono Uforo Ekid, 3 500kva 33/11 electricity transformers and 3 500kva boxes of feeder pillars each to Atabong community in Eket, Iwochang community in Ibeno and Akpautong, Esit Eket LGA.
“32 youths from the federal constituency were trained in welding/fabrication and instrumentation in Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron. All expenses ranging from course fee, kits, accommodate, allowance totally 278,000,00 each for the 16 welding and fabrication trainees and 259,000,00 each for the 15 Instrumentation trainees.,”
On water, the former spokesperson of the House of Representatives through National budget facilitated a solar powered motorized borehole with reticulation at Ikot Obong Ishiet, Awa, Onna, Uquo, Esit Eket, Ikot Obio Anana, Okon-Eket, Odio in Eket, Akpautong,Esit Eket, Ikot Afaha Eket and Ikot Udo,Oniong West, Onna and rehabilitated and reticulation of existing water works at Ikot Obong Ishiet,Awa and provision of 1 borehole with hand pump each at Esit Urua in Eket and Ikot Ntan Ide in Onna LGA.
On Agriculture, Eyiboh said he reactivated and constructed the Oniong Nnung Ndem irrigation/drainage project, field reservoir,canal, drains, roads and building, constructed poultry farm project with solar infrastructure at Nduo Eduo,Eket LGA, piggery farm project with solar infrastructure at Ekpene Obo, Esit Eket, fishery farm project with solar infrastructure at Iwochang, Ibeno LGA and poultry farm project with solar infrastructure at Ikot Annang, Onna LGA and trained 21 youths in Integrated Agricultural Programs in piggery farming, poultry farming and fisheries.
According to him, each of the 21 beneficiaries were given starter pack of 500,000 naira.
He decried the non utilization of the funds by the beneficiaries in the areas they were trained, noting that it would have reduced employment, hunger and dependent.
On communication and health, he undertook the completion process of NTA, Eket and constructed ICT skill centres with computers, printers and accessories at Akpautong, Esit Eket and Afaha Eket, Eket LGA, built Primary Health Centres at Iko Efak, Uquo, Edor, Etebi, Okat, Ikot Ntan Ide, Afaha Akai and Ikot Nkan.
Rt.Hon. Eyiboh, mentioned Mr. Nsudo Nsudo from Eket and the current chairperson of EARCOM in Akwa Ibom State, Dorathy Thompson from Ibeno LGA as those he nominated and facilitated into the Federal Government of Nigeria Vision 20:20:20 committee.
On roads and works, Hon. Eyiboh, constructed a bridge linking Ntan Ide Ikot Idem Udo communities and provided solar street lights at Atabong bridge and Uquo Secretariat road and facilitated employment of his continents in ministries and agencies.
He assured the members of D’ Preferred committee and all constituents of a partnership that would bring rapid development in the federal constituency.
Eyiboh, hinted that leadership issue in the party in Akwa Ibom State has been resolved.
“The issue of party leadership has been resolved by the national leadership of the party and INEC. There is only one APC in Akwa Ibom State led by Obong Stephen Leo Ntukekpo.
” The party also resolved that members should embark on reconciliation and in the ongoing voters registration”, he said.
Earlier, DG of D’ Preferred campaign organization, Mrs Inyene Bassey thanked all members of the committee for supporting a good cause, stating that the work ahead required commitment and dedication.
In their separate speeches, Hon. Victor Edon, General Officer Coordinating D’ Preferred campaign organization and Mr.Bassey Enobong,Chairman of D’ Preferred, congratulated the committee members and described Rt Hon. Eseme Eyiboh as a sellable candidate with pedigree and capacity to represent Eket federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
They urged members of the committee to put in extra energies in their assigned responsibilities.
D’ Preferred reconciliation, mobilization, security, youths, women and public communication committees was inaugurated with members drawn from all the 4 local government areas of Eket, Onna, Esit Eket and Ibeno.
Responding on behalf of the inaugurated committee members, Engr. Joseph Akanawan and Mr. Preferred John among others, lauded the leadership of D’ Preferred campaign organization for the confidence repose in them to serve in different committees, and promised to use their experiences and work assiduously for success of Rt.Hon. Eseme Eyiboh in 2023.
