AN OPEN SOS LETTER TO GOV. UDOM EMMANUEL.
AKISIEC CHAIRMAN MOVES TO MAKE OWN RELATIVE EKET COUNCIL CHAIRMAN: A PASSIONATE APPEAL TO GOV. UDOM EMMANUEL TO ALLOW INTERNAL DEMOCRACY TO PREVAIL.
4th August 2020
Your Excellency, there is a highly classified but disturbing information that Pastor Aniediabasi Ikoiwak, the chairman of AKISIEC, keying into the prevailing local council political issues in Eket, apparently by proxy, is about to impress upon you to make his first cousin from same village, Engr.Thompson Usunedo, the Executive Chairman of Eket LGA. This is not the contention sir.
Information has it that the AKISIEC boss has set up a few political stakeholders in Eket led by Chief Nduese Essien, and two others, who have allegedly made, or are about to make representations to your Excellency that the electoral umpire’s first cousin Engr. Thompson from same village, be adopted by Your Excellency as the PDP chairmanship candidate for Eket LGA.
It is alleged that Engr. Thompson as a mathematician had helped to balance the 2019 election result sheets without loophole, which was used at the Election Petition Tribunal, hence the decision to compensate him, which is alleged, your Excellency has keyed into. Information has it that Your Excellency is making this decision within this week.
With utmost respect Your Excellency, we don’t think such political decision is the best or fair to all concerned.
The contentious issue in Eket was the issue of mbiam, which you have dutifully handled, but not a question of consensus candidacy.
May Your Excellency be reminded that on Sunday 26th July 2020, the Eket political stakeholders met and took a decision that there is no question of a consensus candidate in Eket; that all the contenders must go to the field. Therefore, the secret scheming to adopt Engr Thompson amounts to political summersault, for a few stakeholders to turn away from the unanimous agreement to arm twist Your Excellency to adopt an aspirant who is solely their choice
Relying on Your Excellency’s towering integrity and finesse of political character, we solemnly appeal that internal democracy should prevail. Whilst Engr.Thompson has the constitutional right to stand for an election, but adopting him as a candidate by the governor, having been pushed by the chairman of an electoral umpire, appears to be deficient of integrity that Your Excellency is known for. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
