This is a man whose condition was linked to that of Job and Lazarus in the Bible who at the end of their lives, lived from Hand to mouth.
On several occasions, I was with the chairman where Mr. Godwin had to double cross him. At times blocked his vehicle… I could remember vividly how he blocked the chairman at Villa Marina Hotel after an event. On asking why he blocked the executive chairman of Esit Eket like that, he bluntly said, “I need work…see me, I can’t cater for myself and myself, the chairman should please give me work”. On hearing this, the chairman said okay, just take money and go and buy food to eat for now: he bluntly refused and insisted that, he needed work.
Shortly after that day with the promise to find him something to do by the chairman, Godwin Emmanuel was given a well paid job by Hon. Iniobong Robson and today, he’s working and comfortably catering for his family with a heart full of gratitude.
Meanwhile, this is the same man his community people said he shouldn’t have showed gratitude to the man who went out his way to provide him with job. That, showing appreciation to Hon. Iniobong Robson is tantamount to supporting his second term bid. You now see how wicked some folks are? No wonder some of them in my local government remain but with no obvious progress due to their lack of abrupt sense of gratitude.
However, the case of Mr. Godwin Emmanuel is another evidence of Hon. Iniobong Robson’s human empowerment straddle. He has been doing it and he has promised to do more to make sure poverty among the youths in Esit Eket is drastically eradicated to the minimal rung.
