The Bauchi State Government has today received a donation of one thousand (1000) tree seedlings from an Environmental Activist, Abubakar Salisu Matori.
Matori, a resident of Bauchi said, the donation is a token and kind gesture to compliment the efforts of the administration of Governor Bala Muhammed Con (Kauran Bauchi Jagaban Katagum) in transforming the state, especially the roads and housing infrastructures across the State.
He also said he is on the process of sponsoring a private bill and sent to the State Assembly that will enable students to raise at least ten trees, both economic and drought resistant ones during their Senior Classes to secure a scholarship, this is to encourage afforestation among students to reclaim back our battered environment.
He also requested for the Agency to provide them with a space, especially around Multipurpose and Dogon Yaro Roundabout for establishing a tree plant Nursery unit.
Receiving the seedlings on behalf of the Government, the Director General of the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) Dr Ibrahim Kabir MNES, FSEPH, FIICA MISPON,( Maga Yakin Cheledi) said he is overwhelmed with the donor for having interest in tree planting and initiative to secure the environment.
The Director General also said, he received the donation on behalf of the Government with gratitude and assured him that the trees will be planted in the newly constructed roads and housing estates and on the new settlements in the outskirt of the metropolis.
As an expert and a professional Environmentalist, the Dr Kabir inform the entourage other approaches and modalities for the success of the initiative which he say will carry more weight and assured the donor a symbiotic relationship.
All other speakers who spoke during the interaction which includes Directors of the Agency and Sarkin Itatuwan Bauchi commended Abubakar Salisu Matori for the initiative and his interest towards safeguarding the environment.
