On August 7, Sahara Reporters published a report that the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Bauchi State 2023 governorship election, Air Marshal Sadiqu Baba Abubakar (rtd), recruited 1000 militants and thugs in order to win the election.
And to demonstrate their heightened clueless and incompetency which has set the state on the path of backwardness since 2019, the PDP government of Bauchi State issued a press statement giving credence to the report.
Given the puerility of the entire choreographed charades, we wanted to remain mute and allow the orchestrators to keep wallowing in their puerility and mental degradation, but since it is about security which is a very sensitive issue and for the purpose of making the records straight, we are categorically clarifying that the report is a figment of the imagination of the people at Sahara Reporters or that of the colonel the Newspaper said it spoke to anonymously.
The general public should remember that Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar is a case study in integrity and due process, and this culminated in his internationally-acclaimed transformation of the Nigerian Air Force. Based on the high profile reputation he has built over the years as a public servant over, his political life is guided by principles, dignity and faith. Aware of his magnanimous personality and result-oriented leadership style, the people of Bauchi besieged him to become their leader in 2023. This was evident in his resounding victory in the primaries, and fillers are already showing that the people of Bauchi will overwhelmingly cast their votes in his favour in the general election. It is therefore baffling why he would employ militants and thugs to aid him to victory. Such should be the forte of a disadvantaged candidate who thrives in lawlessness and has an agenda other than serving the people. Air Marshall Sadique Baba Abubakar is a recognised and foremost agent of peace who goes out of his comfort zone to instill it. His records in the Nigerian Air Force are there for all to see.
The hatchet job aimed at denting his popularity did not dishevel his supporters because they know who he is and the grand plans he has for Bauchi. As already written to Sahara Reporters by our lawyers, the grace given to them to publish a retraction in two national newspapers is still counting. We shall, however, meet in court if the retraction isn’t published.
However, legal action is currently being taken against Sahara Reporters.
