BREAKING: President Buhari Appoints Gen. Ahanotu, The New COAS.

The President, has approved the appointment of Major – General Ben Ahanotu as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS). He takes over from Late General Attahiru.

Major General Ahanotu who until this appointment was Chief of Policy and Planning of the Nigerian Army only second in command to late Attahiru.

Ahanotu is of the 35 regular course same as his predecessor. He hails from Anambra State, a Christian.

In same press release, the President has equally banned open grazing in the country and has directed immediate creation of grazing settlements in Katsina, Jigawa, Niger, and Kaduna states.

The settlement will be irrigated for all year round functionality. Each will equally have Nomadic schools and medical facilities.

The project will be funded by the Federal Government.

Recall that, on the 21st day of May 2021, the immediate past COAS, Gen. Attahiru died in the plane crash alongside 10 other officers. They were buried on 22nd May 2021 in full accordance with the national honor.

  1. This reads like fake news as this Ahanotu is said to be the pteferred choice of Ohsneze Ndi’Igbo. Besides another news source, quoting the Presidency, announced Gen Yahaya as the new COAS. Who is telling the truth?
