By Emmanuel Almand Paragon Mbong

His image looms larger in the horizon, not only in his native town of Uqua, Eket in Akwa Ibom State but within all nooks and crannies of the Niger area.

The chemical engineer indeed, has a coat of many colours. A Jack of all trades and master of all, the fair skinned founder and Chairman of one of the foremost private polytechnics in the land of promise, Heritage Polytechnic located in the serene environment of Ikot Udota in Eket, is also a thorough bred educationist, a long standing philanthropist of no mean repute , an astute manager, a fearless and courageous leader as well as an advocate of peace.

As a successful entrepreneur, a seasoned administrator, a boardroom expert and team player, Dr Emmanuel John Ekot has about twenty five academic publications in International journals to his credit.

Dr Ekot is an epitome of kindness, honesty, sincerity, Integrity, maturity and self confidence.

His act of philantropy and selfless service to communities dot the entire landscape of his mother land as exemplified by the divisional police station , which he single handedly built and bankrolled at Ikot Udota.

As a servant of God with the Apostolic Church, his steps are ordered by the Lord: and he delights in his way. It is part of a good man to do great and noble deeds, though he risks everything

This prized jewel and one of the illustrious sons of Eket had his elementary education at Qua Iboe Church Primary School, Usung Inyang , Eket before proceeding to Community Secondary Commercial School, Ikot Uso Ekong for his post primary education.

He also holds a B.Sc degree in Biochemistry from the University of Uyo, post graduate diploma and M.Eng degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt.

His insatiable quest for more academic laurels landed him at the Imo State University, where he bagged a master of science degree in Environmental Management and also a post graduate diploma in Education.

The distinguished scholar and academician finally capped it all with a doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering from Anambra State University.

He is also presently preoccupied with his age long dreams of establishing a first private University in Ekid nation which may see the green light very soon.

Dr Ekot is God fearing and he deeply feels the burden of the stones someone else is carrying. No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child. The masses are always at home with him because of his track records of service to humanity.

A good man would prefer to be defeated than to defeat injustice by evil means. The mark of a great man is one who knows when to set aside the important things in order to accomplish the vital ones

The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good. A good man will never harm or oppress another. A good man will share his last morsel of food with others in need, and die of hunger when he no longer has any food — instead of cheat or steal from others to survive. selflessness. humility. truthfulness. These are the three marks of an honourable man.
