Eket Book Club Berths, As Uyo Based Newspaper Publisher Emerges Coordinator

… Udeme Nana, Eseme Eyiboh Organize Seminar ‘A Day With a Writer’ for Eket Young Minds

A famous Akwa Ibom book reading society on Saturday, 14th August berthed one of its branches in Eket, Akwa Ibom State under the watchful eye of its founder, Dr Udeme Nana.

The book club is a gathering of visionary, pragmatic and inquisitive young minds across the State with the aim to read, review and discuss all there is about books in the society.

Nana, a lecturer with one of the State tertiary institutions founded the Uyo Book Club some years ago, a club that has, in a short while given birth to other Book Clubs across the State was on hand to perform the inauguration of the club shortly his seminar ‘A Day With A Writer’.

A former Member of the National Assembly , Hon. Eseme Eyiboh who witnessed the inauguration, commended the celebrated lecturer for his vision towards reviving the reading culture amongst young people across the State, saying that it is an impeccable legacy that must be jealously guided by the Akwa Ibom youths.

Eyiboh, a former Chairman Akwa Ibom Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission, and later a member of the House of Representatives appealed to the youths who attended the seminar to put into practice what they have learnt for their benefit and that of the society.

At the Inauguration, the publisher and Editor in chief of the Ink Newspaper, Mr Nsibiet John was appointed the coordinator of the club; an advocate for the girl child, Miss Ndueso Young was appointed the deputy coordinator while Mr Enobong Nsimah was appointed the treasurer.

Others appointed to help drive the vision of the EKET BOOK CLUB were Mr Ani Michael of Ikpaisong reporters as the organization’s PRO, while Ubong Creativity David and Peace Bassey are to serve in another upcoming retreat committee as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.
Dr Nana said he was quite pleased with the strides recorded by Uyo Book Club which he founded in 2015 and the Raffia City Book Club which was set up in May this year, observing that EKET BOOK CLUB has potentials for great success.
Dr. Nana, a former Media Adviser to Governor Attah and Akpabio appealed to the citizens of EKET and its environs to support the activities of the Book Club.
