Little effort was made in the past by previous administration to encourage and empower Akwa Ibom indigenous contractors into handling capital intensive road projects. Under Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Administration, contractors with credibility are being signed to handle projects.
Investigations showed that, most of these projects are of the best standards, reports available at the ministry of works and fire service and various building, consulting and inspection agencies indicate, the asphalt, concrete ratio, and design of the ring road, Uyo ongoing projects and cost is of International Construction Measurement Standards. The clearly shows that our indigenous contractors are encouraged by the administration of governor Udom Emmanuel.
It is a sing of rising to greatness; a practical symbols of the Dakkada Creed.
We might want to focus our remarks, at least partly on other projects handled by foreign experts and investor companies in Akwa Ibom but the truth remains the indigenous contractors deserve accolades for not putting the governor to shame.
We remember an Akwa Ibom which capital intensive projects were always constructed by foreigners but today the story is different. We encourage the NDDC to start using indigenous contractors who have the signatory projects to date, crippled with capacity and integrity.
Calabar Itu road might be completed soon. East west road might be completed, Aba Ikot Ekpene road might be ongoing, if someone of these indigenous contractor are engaged.
We commend governor udom Emmanuel for encouraging local contents in the construction industry whose results are of international standard and we urge him to do more.
