EPU DECLARES UNWAVERING SUPPORT FOR BUA REFINERY AND IBOM DEEP SEAPORT.

The Ekid People’s Union, EPU, apex socio-cultural organization of Ekid Nation has reiterated Ekid People’s declaration of unwavering support for State government commitment to earliest realization of BUA refinary and Ibom Deep Seaport projects.

In a communique arrived at the Ekid Annual National Congress on December 16, 2021, signed by Dr Samuel Udonsak, National President, Hon (Barr) Bassey Dan-Abia, National Secretary and Dr Umana S. Umana, Chairman communique Committee and made public over the weekend, the people of Ekid said that,

“Governor Udom Emmanuel led State government should not be distracted by whatever antics of mischief plotters towards State internal delineation and map development for enduring peace and common good of the State”,

“The Congress states categorically that the Stubbs Creek Forest Reserve Area (locally known as AKOIYAK) ownership is not in any controversy as mischief makers may want people to believe against succinct historical factuality and legal evidences which attest to its ownership by Ekid people”.

It challenges anyone who may feel otherwise to seek court’s redress rather than serve and feed their innocent children with bitterness, falsehood and quasi claims.

The Congress gracefully applauds the resurgence of infrastructural development in Ekid by the State government and therefore enjoined everyone to give their total support to His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel’s completion agenda.

Congress calls on the State government to guide and direct Exxonmobil to redeem all her Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) and statutory obligations to her core host community. It is in line with global best practice that Exxonmobil must discuss its succession plan and speculated new investor with its core host community.

The Congress also approved the establishment of Ekid Education Trust Fund for the strategic advancement of educational prowers and development of its people.

The proposal for the establishment of Ekid Investment Company and Ekid Economic Summit Group towards the robust socio economic rejuvenation and development was ratified by the Congress.

It also ratified the proposal for establishment of Ufagh Ekid as permanent secretariat for EPU and Rendezvous for Ekid people at large.

Congress emphasized the need to ensure a functional and feasible blue-print in line with national and global best practices with oil and gas operators.

Finally, Congress charges Ekid people to embark on a vigorous investment in research, development and publication of Ekid history and culture.

“Within the confines of pure transcendentiality of conscience, the Congress calls on all, in the spirit of the season, to reflect on the reawakening and repositioning of Ekid, for prosperity”, the release stated.
