The Leader of Esit Eket legislative Council, Hon. Daniel Akpe and other nine (9) members have distanced themselves from the purported petition submitted to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly against Esit Eket council boss, Hon. Iniobong Robson on the ground of gross misconduct.

It is pertinent to note worthily that on the 29th day of May, 2020, a petition was presented to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Aniekan Bassey by Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Public Petition, Hon. Victor Ekwere. This said petition was circulated on the social media platforms with hypes that, the Esit Eket council boss will soon be suspended like his two (2) counterparts in Uyo and Nsit Atai local government councils respectively, same on the ground of gross misconduct and financial misappropriations.

It is on ambience that the Leader of Esit Eket Legislative Council when contacted by our news reporter responded that, he knows nothing about the purported petition.

According to him; “my brother, I know nothing about the petition. As I speak to you now, I have contacted all my nine (9) colleagues to find out whether they have written nor signed any petition against the council boss. They all responded in negation. Then if that is the case then I can assure you authoritatively that the purported petition that is making waves on the social media is not, and can never come from any of us because from our own judgement and evaluation the council boss has not done anything to warrant such fictitious petition.

“Subsequently, we have called for an emergency sitting/meeting which is going to take place any day from now, then this subject matter with immediate effect shall be discussed extensively”.

However, the Leader, who related this to our news reporter on behalf of the other members therefore asked everyone to remain law abiding and in peace. He promised that when once they get the copy of the petition, they will know where it came from. He further vowed to expose and bring to book any external body behind the petition in the name of his office and he equally called on the general public to disregard such information as the big fish behind the plot against the council boss will never succeed.
