Gov. Udom Promises To Prioritize Education Sector In A’Ibom As Idem Builds Class Room Block And e-Learning Center For AKSU Students

…says he prioritises the education sector of the state

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has urged Akwa Ibom politicians to learn from the exemplary representation of the member representing Ukanafun and Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Hon. Unyime Idem. The Governor handed down this counsel on Monday August 29, 2022, during the inauguration of the 300-seater capacity six classroom lecture hall and 50-seater capacity e-Learning centre at Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpa Campus, Oruk Anam LGA.

Represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Labour and Manpower Planning, Hon. Elder Aniefiok Nkom, the Governor said he was impressed by the silent but impactful manner Idem has changed the face of representation in the federal constituency.

“Let me appreciate Hon. Idem for his exemplary representation and show of love for his people. Akwa Ibom politicians should learn from this kind of representation that put smiles on the faces of the people and guarantees development. This for me is service to humanity”

“Akwa Ibom will experience more development, progress and prosperity if public office holders will endeavour to replicate what Idem has done here today. I am informed that there are more of such projects spread across the federal constituency. This is commendable and worthy of emulation”. He added.

The Governor commended the leaders of the federal constituency for the choice of Idem as their representatives and for supporting him to return to the Lower chamber for a second term noting that more projects will be brought back home.
He described his administration as education friendly and that in the last seven years education has been prioritized. He explained that the state-owned university has not been on strike owing to his government’s commitment towards ensuring a hitch free academic session in the university.

He advised the students to take their studies seriously, be of good conduct and take advantage of the benefits the projects will offer.

“Great Nigerian Students, a man who thinks about your future well-being has provided a 300-seater capacity six classroom lecture hall and 50-seater capacity e-Learning centre. Endeavour to make good use of these facilities. They are for your own good. Ensure you get all the benefits they have to offer. Handle the facilities with care so that other students will find them useful during their time of usage’.

Reacting, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet applauded the National Assembly Member for attracting life touching projects to the Federal Constituency. She said Governor Emmanuel’s administration pays premium to qualitative education in line with sustainable development goals, SDGs of the United Nations. She euglogised the lawmaker for keying into the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s development drive.

“By virtue of this project, Hon Idem has portrayed himself as a lover of education which is the bedrock of development of any society. He is our pride; our ambassador and performing lawmaker. I urge other politicians to emulate Idem and initiate projects in their areas too”

Reacting, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nse Essien thanked the federal lawmaker for the laudable investment and urged other politicians to follow the footsteps of Idem to assist the university achieve its mandate.

On hand to assist the Governor perform the inauguration were the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Obonganwan, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, the Vice Chancellor of AKSU, Prof Nse Essien and his management team, leaders and stakeholders from Oruk-Anam/Ukanafun federal Constituency, royal fathers, staff and students of AKSU.
