The Personal Assistant to the Governor on Media, Rev’d Richard Peters on Sunday doled out grants to over 25 students of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) to augment their schools fees as the school portal closes for the semester.
Harps On Unity Amongst A’Ibom People
Rev’d Peters stated that he was bittered when the news of closure of school portal and registration of courses reached him and some students were unable to complete the payment of their school fees and other dues due to financial constraints. He noted that this endeared him to assist the students with some financial assistance.
Recall, on Sunday 2nd February, 2020, the school management through the office of the Registrar issued out a press statement on the closure of the school portal for payment of school fees and registration of courses on the midnight of Monday 10th February, 2020.
Performing the presentation, Rev’d Peters assured the students that they can never suspend studies due to school fees as long as God blesses him, adding that in his little or big capacity, he will always be a blessing to Students and other members of the Society.
Rev’d Peters lauded Governor Emmanuel’s efforts and strides in the educational sector towards ensuring that education in the State is given maximum priority with the sole aim of giving qualitative education to Akwa Ibom students.
He also stated that education is the key to success and a paramount investment which will yield positive results if governments, public office holders, private institutions and most importantly parents or guardians pay premium attention to.
The Governor’s aide, however, called every concerned and patriotic Akwa Ibom indigene to keep politics aside, focus on governance, be united, exude brotherly love, eradicate envy, hatred, pull down syndrome and rather show support to the growth and development of education in the state, which will enhance the students to have a brighter future and compete with their contemporaries in the society.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Francis John Akpan, a 300 level Law Student of the institution thanked and appreciated Rev’d Richard Peters for his magnanimity and show of human kindness to them, thereby pronouncing God’s blessing, grace and protection upon him.
