For days now, there have been rumours that the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Akwa Ibom State chapter has settled for a man who will take up the mantle of leadership after late Udo Ekpeyong as the state chairman.
Recall that, the chairman of the Akwa Ibom State PDP, Obong Udo Ekpeyong died some months ago and was given a state burial after two months. Since then, the position of the state chairman in the party has remained vacant with only the vice in an active capacity.
As gathered from newsline9ja.com, feelers have it that, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Akpan, the Ukanafun politician is billed to take over from late Udo Ekpeyong who died in active service.
Though the party at the state level has not yet made an official pronouncement. Meanwhile, it is expected that that will be done any day from now as the position has been vacant for quite a long time.
Rt. Hon. Aniekan Akpan is a former Chairman of Ukanafun local government area, former Member representing Ukanafun State Constituency, former Commissioner for Education and yet to be announced State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Akwa Ibom State.
When announced and sworn in, he is expected to pilot the affairs of the party till 2023 where the general election will take place.
