Today is a DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY, and so, our Lord Jesus gives us peace, the kind that the world can not give, and breaths in us the Holy Spirit, the divine life(John 20:19-31); the kind that helps us to forgive one’s sins and fosters a communal living.
However, the resurrection of Jesus brings about the extraordinary way of living among the People of Christ faithful. With great zeal, power and enthusiasm, the apostles continue to testify to the resurrection. They become united in mind, heart and soul (Acts 4:32-35); no one claims for his own use of anything that he owns, as anything they own is for the common good of all.
As Christians, who are now witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we should begin to live our lives in a more radical way and expression. We ought to be united in mind, heart and soul as the early Christian community did. We should always ready to share our possessions and belongings with our fellow Christians and others who may not be as well off as we do. This sharing of our possessions should not be limited to only material possessions, but goes beyond to intellectual, emotional, and spiritual, as well as sharing knowledge, love, and mutual concern to all, irrespective of colour, tribe, religion or political affiliation.
We can only become true resurrection people and share in the joy there in when we are able to form and build a community that is driven by love and not by selfishness. We can draw such inspiration in the lives of the early Christians vis-a-vis the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The joy pieced every rancor and boundary among the peoples. May same joy of Christ’s resurrection positively changes your life’s situation.
Good morning and happy Sunday to you.
