Down the road, here in Akwa Ibom State, we have a compendium of achievers, whose names are conspicuously engraved in the public signage of our political turf. We know them. Former Governor Godswill Akpabio tops the list, no matter his perceived short comings.

The now trending but controversial survey over the performances our local government Chairmen in the State, carried out by my colleague, Mr Edidiong Udobia calls for a critical review. Why ?. Because some of the names captured in some categories of the survey tends to cast the wrong image and message.

To have captured Engr. Iniobong Robson, chairman of Esit Eket local government area as a non performer who knows not why he occupies the present position, tenders the entire efforts of Edidiong Udobia worthless and questionable.

I have worked with Udobia in the same newsroom at the Global Insight Newspapers. I know him as a deep and proficient journalist. He digs deep on issues, before bringing them to the fore. He is one of the very best we have here in Akwa Ibom, in the business of minding others’ businesses. But I still find it difficult to accept his impregnated placement of Hon Iniobong Robson in that wrung of never do wells. The placement is just a little short of casting aspersion on the chairman who his very people regard as one of the best performing Council chairmen since the creation of Esit Eket local government.

The Pen Oracle is not from Esit Eket but he knows what has transpired in that axis, politically, socially and economically, over the years. I can safely vouch that Iniobong Robson has scored, in performance, creditably well. Not speaking for him, I can stake on my name that he has delivered. He may not have satisfied everybody, which is very impossible but his name is on the signage of our political turf as one of those Council chairmen who have wittingly sown some seeds of development for the future.

Nobody should be afraid of Iniobong Robson for the sake of second term. His people are the ones to decide his political future. Not my friend Edidiong Udobia and the wild guess work very close to libel.
