…Pastor Umo Eno is a marketable political product – Archibong
The political leader of Eket Senatorial District and former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Chief Nduese Essien has advised Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno to work very hard to be accepted by the people of Akwa Ibom State ahead of 2023 Governorship race.
Chief Essien gave the advice yesterday, Thursday 10th February, 2022, when the Campaign Organization of Pastor Umo Eno visited him for consultation at his residence in Ntaisip, Ikot Ibiok in Eket local government area.
The former two term member of the House of Representatives, while extolling the sterling leadership qualities of Pastor Eno as a successful business man with managerial prowess, said now that he has been preferred among other aspirants by the governor, he should work very hard to be accepted by the people of Akwa Ibom State.
“I have received up to seven or eight aspirants for governorship since last year. Count yourself very lucky to be preferred by the governor. You are only preferred, but you have to go and show that you have been accepted. You have to work diligently to be accepted,” Chief Essien said.
He noted that the Governor has the right to have his preferred aspirant like everyone else, therefore it is left for the preferred aspirant to work hard to get the general acceptance of the people, adding that those complaining about the Governor’s choice are only expressing disappointment that they were not so selected.
The Senatorial District political leader said what Eket people expect from the next governor of this state is to continue with all the programmes and projects of the past administrations, and ensure its completion and effective management.
He singled out the establishment of Ibom Air as the pride of the state, saying Ibom Air is the preferred airline in the whole country.
“We are more proud with the establishment of Ibom Air. Today, the airline is the preferred air carrier in the country,” he noted.
He mentioned that Obong Victor Attah came and laid the foundation and Chief Godswill Akpabio continue with uncommon transformation while Udom Emmanuel is taking the state higher with industrialization, charging the incoming administration to continue with those laudable programmes and projects for sustainability.
Chief Essien advised the incoming governor to consolidate on the unity and peace currently prevailing in the state, and discontinue with alien cultures which have been introduced to the state in the process of development.
He also frown at unnecessary extravagance by political office holders, while emphasizing that time management is very essential in governance. He maintained that uniform culture at every event is wasteful, saying the people introducing uniform are making money for themselves and not supporting government. He added that time management is very essential in governance, calling on the incoming governor to prioritize time in his administration.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Frank Archibong in his speech said Pastor Umo Eno is a saleable political product and should be supported by Eket people for him to succeed in the gubernatorial race.
Pastor Umo Eno, who is the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, and the annointed aspirant by governor Udom Emmanuel, said that he decided to visit Chief Essien as a father and to seek for his blessings for the Governorship hurdle ahead of 2023 general elections.
Earlier, the Director General of Umo Eno Campaign Organization, Chief Assam Assam SAN, stated that they came to seek Chief Essien blessing for Pastor Eno, assuring that he will not disappoint Eket people as the governor of Akwa Ibom State.
In their separate speeches, the National Coordinator of Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, Chief Christopher Isóng, Barr. Jack Udota, Prof. Etie Ben, and General Anthony Etukudo (Rtd), all extolled the managerial experience of Pastor Eno as a successful business man, saying he is a good choice and should be supported by all.
In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of Eket local government area, Mr. Akaniyene Tommey, said now that the leader of the party, governor Udom Emmanuel has given direction, every one should queue behind Pastor Eno for continuity and sustainability.
