Yemi Eberechi Alade, simply known as Yemi Alade, a Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter has been announced as one of the guests for the 2020 Daughter of Independence Concert slated for March 14th at Carnegie Hall in New York.

The host of the concert and the 2020 Grammy winner of Best World Music Album, Angelique Kidjo announced this on Tuesday, 4th February, 2020.

Yemi Alade who is the only Nigerian singer to perform in the show was announced alongside Manu Dibango – Cameron, Baaba Maal – Senegal and Brittany Howard – America.

Daughter of Independence concert is a music show to celebrate 60 years of African sounds and, according to the host, it is a way of making African music rule the world. The concert is also to celebrate the 60 years of Independence of 17 African countries as well as honouring African music

Yemi Alade, the Nigerian megastar gained prominence after winning the Peak Talent Show in 2009, and is best known for her hit single “Johnny”.
